December 2008 – January 2009: Harrington and Squires Festive Window

Renowned letterpress printers and designers Harrington and Squires installed a festive window. Using a restricted colour palette of red, white, nude and black, the window encapsulated their distinctive style.

Boldly strung across the front was a double garland of letterpress cards, each card stamped with a number denoting a day in the month of December in the distinctive Gills Sans Font that Harrington and Squires have made their own. In January these were turned over to reveal the letters HAPPY NEW YEAR printed on the reverse. The base of the window was steeped in shredded paper together with an original letterpress, wrapped parcels, and towers of their uniquely boxed calendars, whilst open calendars hung in rows from the side of the window.

A selection of Harrington and Squires distinctive gifts were available to purchase in store including white cotton printed letterpress handkerchiefs packaged in printed envelopes, sets of badges bearing letters of the alphabet, punctuation marks and algebraic symbols, magnetic calendars and boxed perforated calendars complete with wooden clothes pegs to mark the day.
